Hi Shannon, I was interested in taking this class, but it didn't work out this time. I found your blog via Makoto's twitter feed and have been so enjoying your process photos and thoughts. Thanks for documenting your work in this beautiful way and sharing it.

Don, I am taking a lot of liberty in using the materials: mixing water-based media with encaustic. I'm just doing a lot of experimenting at the moment and enjoying learning what works and what doesn't! :) I'd love to see some of your work - do you have a website?

Tamara, I'd love for you to do a written response. I'll certainly post it here if you do!!

Shannon, I've been so enjoying these daily updates! The photo of your work "burning" is quite profound. Makes me want to write something...

I had not anticipated that Nihonga used the materials in evidence here!I have done paintings that combine watercolor and acrylic to achieve simular visual effects,as seen from photos of Nihonga works, but i also noticed that the nihonga paintings had visual quality's that eluded me.So now I realize that there is much more chemistry involved than pigment, polymers, evaporation, surface and substrate.how very exciting!
