This installation is comprised of 3 sections. The first is a 20 piece red-to-purple grid called "Lent" made up of encaustic, oil paint and dryer sheets on horizontal wooden panels. The second, called "The Last Supper," is a 12 piece section of cast hands, encaustic, ink and dryer sheets on horizontal wood panels (with one notable exception- a vertical piece in the middle made of naturally bleached wax). The third and final section, called "Holy Week" contains 21 pieces made of embedded ashes, encaustic, dryer sheets and drawings of stylized plants.
This installation is meant to be a visual exploration of the pre-Easter season. It was created and installed with color, number, orientation and placement in mind.
