For several years now, I’ve been dreaming up zany ideas for illuminated plant and animal pod-like shapes made up of fabric, wax and wire. The closest I’ve come to working on these ideas has been my recent series “Illuminated Manuscripts.” There’s still much more to explore and given the right time and space, I’m convinced they’d come pouring out of my head and hands like a rushing river. :)
Today I found another artist who is doing similar things. Although she’s not incorporating light from within the structures, her usage of repeated forms, playful allusions to plant and animal forms, and even how she has placed her installations- it’s all spot on to what’s been floating around in my head for so long.
