more excavating

I’m actually getting to a point I’m excited about in my painting. As I said before, this painting has been [purposefully] hidden behind the couch for a long time. Now, it’s really taken on a life of its own.

I was searching for something special to give the ground a 3-D texture. I was also doing laundry at the time and after sniffing laundry sheets for 20 minutes [ok - I exaggerate] realized it would be a wonderful blending of the senses if I could add that clean laundry smell to the luscious smell of the beeswax. 45 minutes later, I was in sniff heaven and had the texture I wanted, made from dryer sheets!  A subtle, crackly effect made by dryer sheets – who would’ve thought?

Without further ado, here’s the latest progress on the excavated painting:
