Sometimes people ask me where I find inspiration for my work. My answer depends on the day, but a foolproof source of fascination for me lies in the world of the tiny, complex, bizarre stuff you see when looking through a microscope. In my opinion, there's no end to the inspiration you can find all around you. In the words of the Bavarian scientist-artist (in the last video of this post) puts it, "The art is already there."
To that end, here are a few odds and ends that I recommend checking out to fuel up on inspiration this year:
Heaven and Earth: Unseen by the Naked Eye
stunning book of micro and macro fullspread photographs
Pocket Microscope (perfect for the artist / scientist / naturalist of any age)
Micro Empire from Clemens Wirth on Vimeo.
Larva pelagosfera from Alvaro Migotto on Vimeo.
